From 25 to 23 Total Regular Season and Exhibition Games
Redistribution of Competitions:
6 Fewer Matches in the Fall, 4 Additional Matches in the Spring. Post Season Moved from November/December to May/June.
Reduced Midweek games:
Maximum 3 midweek games through the academic year vs 6-8 midweek games in ONE semester.
+ FALL SEGMENT
- Preseason training begins in late August
- First regular season games start the second week of September
- Fall competition ends prior to Thanksgiving / holiday plans can be made without competition conflicts
- Significant time allowed for final exam preparation
+ SPRING SEGMENT
- 8 hour training begins in mid January / 18 hour training begins in late February
- Regular season competition resumes in mid March
- NCAA tournament starts in early May with the NCAA final being the first weekend in June
+ CHAMPIONSHIP EXPERIENCE
- Moves from November/December to May/June. More conducive for quality play, potential attendance increase, championship student-athlete experience enhanced
+ ATHLETICS BREAKS
- November–January (significant time for final exam preparation and J-term classes)
- Summer – May/June to late August (summer school, internships, study abroad, work, summer teams)
+ ADDITIONAL FEATURES
- Reduction and redistribution of soccer activity over two semesters (132 days and 18 CARA hours per week)
- Reduction and redistribution of games (From 25 to 23 with 14 fall and 9 spring games–includes 3 exhibitions)
- Maximum 3 midweek games over the course of the academic year
